Spotlight on Siena: Software Engineer

´One of my top criteria for any company I work for is the world impact I can deliver. I've found a niche in bringing modern technology to industry, making some of our most critical infrastructure more reliable, efficient, and sustainable. ´

´I work on the Edge Devices team and we are responsible for the base health and function of all our devices deployed in the field. More specifically, we manage two main aspects of the device: the base software and network connections. This means we manage installing and updating the operating system, common applications and dependencies, as well as some custom applications Samotics develops. Additionally, we coordinate all network communication handling authentications and end point discovery. This allows other teams to focus on signal analytics and rely on our services to deliver the results to the cloud for further analysis and action.´

´One of my top criteria for any company I work for is the world impact I can deliver. I've found a niche in bringing modern technology to industry, making some of our most critical infrastructure more reliable, efficient, and sustainable.  So much of the world relies on hidden industries that provide us water, manage sewage, process waste, produce resources and more. Here at Samotics, I get to give back to these industries by helping them improve their operations and modernize some of their practices to take advantage of some of the incredible technology we have today.´

´Motors are everywhere, I mean everywhere. With a background in Computer Software and Computer Engineering, I like surprising people by detailing how many computers are secretly in their lives. But now, I've been surprised with how many motors are in my life: in my refrigerator, washing machine, coffee pot, ventilation fan, and more. They really are everywhere, not just in industry. These are really critical pieces of technology, perhaps even the most critical piece which makes the work we do at Samotics all the more exciting.´

´I really love creating new things. This gives me the most energy and satisfaction. Whether it's in hobbies or at work, the ability to have an idea, build and play with it, and eventually see it become something useful is so rewarding for me. This is one aspect that really drew me to Software Engineering. Software is such a raw medium to build and create with, so many things are possible and the impact of them can be so striking. I find it invigorating to work with it, solve problems, and be creative.´

´More and more is being done with technology. Software plays a huge role in that. Samotics is a testament to this in bringing machine learning and advanced software analytics to large, industrial facilities. As a result, there is a lot of pressure to do things quickly and move on to the next big idea. With more of the world's basic functions using it, however, it's more important than ever to deliver quality results that people can rely on every day, every time. Take pride in the work you do and deliver the best you can. The world now relies on it.´
