We are looking for a Data scientist. Are you interested in doing research and development with regards to detecting upcoming failures in rotating electrical machines and helping our customers to prevent unplanned downtimes? About the team 👋

As a Data scientist you will be working on Research and Development tasks to improve our Asset Health product (SAM4), in a cross-functional product team composed of ESA specialists (electrical signature analysis) and other Data scientists. 

Your challenge 🎯

  • Develop and validate algorithms or models for fault detection and trend analysis that scale to production.

  • Analyze complex time-series data from thousands of industrial assets.

  • Evaluate model impact beyond the experiment scope, considering interpretability, maintainability, and measurable benefit for users.

  • Collaborate with other engineers to define deployment, retraining, and monitoring requirements for reliable long-term operation.

  • Contribute to shared frameworks and standards that improve cycle time for the entire machine learning eco-system at Samotics.

  • Balance exploratory research with practical delivery, pursuing new ideas in a way that minimizes risk and optimizes value gain.

Job requirements

What you’ll bring ⭐

An MSc or PhD in Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, with experience developing models for production environments. An agile, user-centric mindset focused on delivering incremental improvements, learning from production feedback, and reducing uncertainty through thoughtful experimentation.

Requirements for this position are:

  • 3+ years of experience in applied machine learning or data science.

  • Proficiency in Python, git and core ML/analysis libraries

  • Proven experience applying models to large datasets in production environments and the experiment cycle. (time series domain or oil and gas industry is a plus)

  • Ability to design interpretable, efficient models that generalize across real-world conditions.

  • Strong skills in experiment design, metrics definition, and model validation.

  • Clear, concise communication of analytical findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
